Injectable FAQs
What is neurotoxin?
In aesthetics, botulinum toxin type A blocks nerve impulses to facial muscles causing them to relax and as a result helps smooth wrinkles caused by facial expressions. We can also calm excess sweating with this medication. The neurotoxins begin to activate in 4-6hrs once injected and take a full 10-14 days to be fully effective and your results to kick in.
What are fillers?
Dermal fillers utilize hyaluronic acid to address concerns like hollowing, lines and wrinkles, lack of hydration and volume, and lost bone contour that occurs with typical aging. You can enjoy results immediately with fillers, but we recommend 2 weeks healing for the product to settle and any bruising to resolve.
What is Radiesse?
Radiesse has calcium-based components that help restore facial volume and reverse signs of aging. It is stiffer than dermal fillers so provides good support in areas of need and mimic bony structures more than HA fillers. Your results continue to improve for months!
What is Sculptra?
Sculptra is a collagen stimulator that is injected to help restore the deep, underling structure of the skin. This product works with your body to revitalize and restore your skin’s inner structure and volume. Expect one vial per decade of your life to be recommended, with no more than two vials injected per appointment. Appointments are scheduled four to eight weeks apart and results begin to be noted three to six months post treatment.
Are these injectables safe?
There have been numerous studies performed on every product we offer, most have been around at least 2 decades with severe complications being rare. We will review your treatment process, provide informed consent, and give you take home instructions and support so you feel fully prepared.
Will I need downtime after the injectables?
We will review your home care and follow up instructions both in your consultation and at every treatment appointment, but generally we recommend a 5-7 day healing period in case you do bruise. We also recommend Revox Line Relaxer by Revision which can be purchased in our office post treatment. This product will help heal bruising more quickly and support your skins hydration and wrinkle prevention processes.
How will I know what I need?
This is why consultations are so valuable! We with gather your medical history and treatment goals, then guide you on the best approach and the care and cost associated.
I have an event coming up I want treatment for, how do I schedule with that in mind?
Neurotoxins and fillers we always recommend at least 2-3 weeks prior to your event so the product can settle and we can see you for any touch ups that may be needed. For Sculptra, RF microneedling, and EmFace your body takes longer to active the collagen results so planning ahead 3-6 months is ideal.
